This fast-paced, hands-on course is perfect for:

  • Experienced filers looking for a refresher.
  • Newcomers exploring whether this is the right career path.
  • Recently hired filers who need a solid skills push.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Band Saw Benching & Tensioning – Understand the “why” and “how” of benching and leveling a band, including proper tensioning techniques. Get hands-on with tension gauges, stretcher rollers, and leveling anvils.
  • Fitting – Learn to build a tooth that’s easy to sharpen and built for performance using both manual and automatic swaging and shaping tools.
  • Sharpening – The most critical skill in sawing. Master manual sharpening for shoulders, corners, and gullet patterns matched to wood species and tooth spacing. Learn how seasonal changes can affect sharpening needs.
