NHLA’s 8-week Inspector Training School is an immersive, hands-on program designed to prepare the next generation of hardwood lumber inspectors. This comprehensive course blends classroom instruction with real-world experience, giving students the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to succeed in the industry. What Students Can Expect - Hands-on lumber inspection training
- In-class lectures led by an experienced NHLA instructor
- Written and practical testing
- Sawmill site visits
- One-on-one instruction and mentorship
- Real-world application of grading rules and inspection practices
Students who successfully complete all program requirements will receive an NHLA Inspector Training School Certificate of Completion. Admission Requirements Prospective students must: - Hold a high school diploma or GED, or
- Pass an “Ability to Benefit” test administered on the first day of class
