Improper drying of lumber can lead to significant losses in yield and value. Drying defects can cost a company thousands of dollars in lost profits and volume.

 

This workshop is instructed by "the Wood Doctor" Gene Wengert.  The class will advance the knowledge and skills of kiln operators, managers, supervisors, and trainees. The workshop will focus on advanced kiln drying techniques and training, including identifying defects (and the causes and cures), how to safely speed-up drying, energy savings, and more.

 

Participants of this workshop must have some experience running drying equipment, as no beginning or basic procedures will be covered.

 

Students are encouraged to bring real-life problems to class for the instructor to evaluate, discuss, and resolve.

 

 

About the Instructor

 

Gene Wengert is the President of The Wood Doctor's Rx LLC and Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been training people in the efficient use of wood for nearly 50 years. Gene is the author of eight practical books and has published over 400 articles relating to the wood products industry. He is known for his ability to translate complex technology into practical ideas.
